Heart Arrhythmia

Arrhythmia IntroductionArrhythmia can be serious. It is a disease that causes your heart to flutter or skip a beat; a feeling many of us have experienced. In some mild cases, however, you may not even know you have it. If you suffer from the least severe form of the disease, you may not notice the mild irregularities in your heartbeats. Nevertheless, most of the time, patients suffering from arrhythmia are aware of some disconcerting symptoms such as skipping, fluttering, or palpitation of their heart. All of these symptoms, whether mild or severe should be discussed with and evaluated by the physicians at Atrial Fibrillation Center Of America Center. If you suspect you may have an arrhythmia, you should contact our office for an appointment, (832) 478-5067.

What is Arrhythmia?

What is Arrhythmia? In its broadest sense arrhythmias are various types of irregular heartbeat. These types of irregularities, called fibrillation, can be caused by mix-ups in the electrical signals that control the heart muscles, damage to the heart from heart disease, high blood pressure, or other problems. Sometimes, if the condition is mild, these fibrillations are not noticeable but, more often, individuals suffering from arrhythmia feel an irregular thumping or racing of the heart. Patients sometimes describe this feeling as though their heart is ‘turning over.’ Arrhythmia can be serious, and if you have these sensations, you should schedule an appointment with our physicians for a consultation and evaluation.
